the madness within

February 24, 2009

in this crazieness i found a place where i could be safe, amongst this madness i flowered and bloomed into a mental state paitent of creativity. inspiration came from a way of life and expressing was inevitable. this madness lives within and sometimes without the closeness it feasted upon. i dare to dream of a day when one could be insane with maturity.

never let a person you’re angry at take pictures of you while you’re giving them the look of death, unless you plan to turn it into something beautiful…

When I was working on this little project, I encountered those mean little people we all have in our lives – of course, we never choose them but alas there are there: thunder-thieves
yep, and in true mzansi style, what else could I do except to say eish…

front invite

back invite

Thandeka

Having seen the invite designed for Siphelele and Aphelele’s memulo, this beautiful young woman named Thandeka requested a similar design. To create the distinction between the two designs (both being ‘postcards’ on the back and for a similar event; I used an image of a young woman in action of traditional Zulu dance called ukusina. I worked more with brown colours and the image to create a more earthy feel, keeping in line with the Zulu attire, whereby it is only their beadwork that is bright and multi-coloured.
